Great Blue Heron - 9 Photos

With recent rainfalls and the amount of precipitation, the wetland marshes that were once separate areas have joined together with connecting channels, at least for now.

And with more easy access to larger fishing grounds, there's less of a need to fly when a long pair of legs will navigate the marshes. And with tall grasses & shrubs, there is plenty of cover and camouflage to seek refuge from the bombardment of the Red-Winged Blackbirds.

Photo #1 through Photo #5 were taken next to one pond, with the heron facing west. Photo #6 through Photo #9 were taken next to an adjacent pond, with the heron facing south.

Both ponds appeared to provide opportunities for fish, although there were a number of unsuccessful attempts which resulted in some water shedding (Photo #7 & Photo #8), including an overall shake it all out manoeuvre.
