"DAYS LIKE THESE"

Bald Eagle (Adult - Female) - 7 Photos

Partial lyrics of a song by Luke Combs:

"Days like these are worth more than gold

But they can't be bought, and they can't be sold ...... "

The day began with a small breeze which quickly turned into gusty Chinook winds. All the waterfowl, except for a few Common Goldeneyes had left the water, probably for locations more protected.

A pair of Bald Eagles had found refuge from the gusts in a tree, perching on a low branch, using the larger trees behind as a shield (Photo #1). The female is on the left in the photo, the male on the right.

Photo #2 through Photo #7 are of Mrs., her partner having left quite soon after arriving. She is, without doubt, a fully mature eagle (with some age on her). Her stature almost dwarfs that of her mate.

Wildlife doesn't know or care what type of equipment you have, or the cost and certainly isn't aware or care how long you may have been outdoors and in what type of weather. They live every minute of every day and night in the natural environment - surviving, thriving and hopefully, successfully raising their offspring. Weather just "is" for wildlife.

So when you come across a Bald Eagle (or in this case, eagles) relaxed on a somewhat low branch, clear of vegetation and the sun behind you, it really doesn't get any better for a Bald Eagle photographic opportunity.

And certainly, an opportunity albeit brief, like the days referred to in Luke Combs' song, that can't be bought and can't be sold.
