It could be the colour of the Winter sky or perhaps, a porcupine getting a respite from a dark cold den by relaxing on a tree limb in the bright sunshine (Photo #1).
Sometimes when stretched out, a porcupine can look like a giant Wooly Bear Caterpillar, because of his/her colouring & bristly appearance (Photo #2).
And then there is tending to an itch underneath all those quills and thick Winter fur. What a wonderful asset to have - a built in back scratcher or in this case, belly scratcher (Photo #3 through Photo #6). And those long claws are multi tasking, as they can be used for climbing trees, which with pebbly hairless soles on the feet, provide extra traction.
Just another good day in the life of a porcupine.
