"SHAKE IT OUT"

Black-Crowned Night Heron - 6 Photos

When I arrived close to the river, I did wonder why all the gulls were flying inland, particularly as the most recent weather forecast called for sunny weather and clear blue skies, with zero chance of precipitation.

Found an adult Black-Crowned Night Heron perching on a fir tree so got comfortable and waited for any movement from the heron.

And then the thunder rolled from a distance and the rain started. I was about to make a start to leave as the rain got much heavier but then the wind pushed the thundershower much further south and blue skies re-appeared. To say, I wasn't the only one who wasn't impressed, see Photo #1.

But as heron feathers are mostly wash & wear, a quick shake out and one Black-Crowned Night Heron was ready to go (Photo #2 through to Photo #6).
