It appears two chicks born to a pair of Black-Crowned Night Herons, have matured to the point where they can fly and successfully fish on their own. Although I had seen an adult with them over the past few weeks, during the last few days I've only seen the two immature herons in the area, sometimes in each other's company but never with an adult.
As Autumn is fast approaching, I assume the adults have now left for warmer climates (Mexico, Central America) for the Winter months and the youngsters will be making their own journeys soon.
So before they make their migration, best to capture their flight prowess.
