"RESIDENT ALIEN"

Sora - 9 Photos

I do realize that the Sora is not an alien but it is a resident during the warm months in Calgary, Alberta, where they nest and produce eggs & offspring.

But those feet! If you were in low light conditions and all you could see were those green/yellow legs & feet protruding from the marsh grasses & reeds, you might think we had a visitor from another planet.

I am not certain whether it's the Sora's dimunitive size or the whinny like call or perhaps even the fact that the Sora can be so elusive, hiding in the marshes, but it ranks as one of my favourite birds that I like to photograph.

It doesn't hurt either that the Sora always appears to have a slight smile (except perhaps for Photo #4). Maybe this little bird does have a secret. :)
