The photos that follow were taken from a high vantage point at the top of a river bank.
The beaver hauled his/her beaver butt out of the water, climbed up the rocky escarpment and with incredible nimbleness & dexterity managed to balance between the rocks to dine on the new green foliage. No mean feat particularly for a beaver who doesn't possess the best athletic form.
And some of those leaves were ensconced among the Wild Rose bushes currently bare of leaves & flowers, but with branches covered in sharp thorns. But I suppose a beaver armored with a thick furry coat and nails to part the branches, just another day of calorie intake.
And with the beaver's reputation gaining more good press as an eco-warrior of water management & conservation, what better way (and probably original) of tagging a beaver as a "rose among the thorns".
